Ion Fury is blasting onto consoles this May 14, bringing its gritty, retro-inspired first-person shooter action to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A physical edition will follow on June 26, giving fans a chance to add this beloved indie hit to their collections.

The game stars Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, who’s back to wipe out a cyber-cultist army led by the villainous Dr. Jadus Heskel. On consoles, players can defend Neo D.C. at a smooth 60 frames per second—on PlayStation and Xbox, while Switch owners can take the chaos on the go. Shelly wields her signature triple-barreled Loverboy revolver, dashing through hordes of adversaries like cyborgs, giant robots, and even mythical wendigos.

Ion Fury delivers frantic combat with eight weapons inspired by classic ‘90s shooters. You can dual-wield Penetrator SMGs loaded with incendiary rounds, blast foes with the Disperser using shotgun shells or grenade rounds, or toss a Clusterpuck to clear entire rooms. The game’s old-school feel is rooted in the Build engine that powered Duke Nukem 3D, offering pixel-perfect nostalgia alongside modern touches like headshots, environmental interactions, better physics, auto-saves, and widescreen support.

This blend of retro charm and contemporary features not only makes Ion Fury a welcome throwback for longtime FPS fans but also a fresh entry that has earned critical acclaim, including IndieDB’s Game of the Year award. Whether you’re revisiting the 90s or discovering the genre for the first time, Ion Fury on consoles promises explosive action and nostalgic thrills.
