La bola negra

Directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, La bola negra is a Spanish drama intertwining the lives of three men from different eras. The film explores their experiences of sexuality, desire, and suffering, weaving these themes into an intimate portrayal of identity and personal legacy.

The narrative draws inspiration from one of Federico García Lorca’s final unfinished pieces, adding a poetic and literary layer to the storytelling. La bola negra premiered in Spain on September 25, 2026, receiving critical acclaim. It earned the Best Direction award jointly at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and won the Premio del Público Ciudad de San Sebastián at the San Sebastián Film Festival that same year.
