Candyman

Anthony’s career as a painter is nearing a halt when he meets an elderly resident of Cabrini Green, played by Colman Domingo, known for his roles in HBO’s Euphoria and Assassination Nation. This encounter introduces him to the disturbing true story behind the urban legend of Candyman. Eager to preserve his standing in the Chicago art scene, Anthony begins to incorporate these grim historical details into his artwork, using his studio as a creative space. Unbeknownst to him, this exploration opens a door to a complex past that threatens his sanity and unleashes a series of violent events. These occurrences set him on a collision course with his own destiny.

The film Candyman is produced by Universal Pictures, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld’s Monkeypaw Productions, in collaboration with BRON Creative. It is directed by Nia DaCosta, with producers including Ian Cooper, Rosenfeld, and Peele. The screenplay is written by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and DaCosta. The film is based on the 1992 original Candyman movie, which was written by Bernard Rose, and the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker. The film’s executive producers are David Kern, Aaron L. Gilbert, and Jason Cloth.
