Resident Evil 3 isn’t just about the intense solo campaign — it’s also packing a fresh multiplayer twist with Resident Evil Resistance. This asymmetrical 4v1 mode flips the horror experience, putting four Survivors against a solo Mastermind in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Survivors need to work together, leverage unique abilities, scavenge weapons, and race against the clock to escape a series of brutal experiments. Meanwhile, the Mastermind gets to wield a deck of cards, setting traps, summoning creatures, and unleashing bioweapons to keep the Survivors pinned down. Notable Resident Evil characters like Alex Wesker, Annette Birkin, and Ozwell E. Spencer can step into the Mastermind role, while iconic monsters like Tyrant and mutated G-Birkin can be directly controlled by the player. This mechanic creates a gameplay experience distinct from the main campaign, emphasizing strategic deception and control.
After launch, the two modes will crossover when Jill Valentine joins Resident Evil Resistance as a playable Survivor in a free update scheduled for April 17. For collectors, Capcom's also offering a special Collector’s Edition, which includes the game, a Jill Valentine figure, an art book, a digital soundtrack, and a double-sided Raccoon City map poster.
