Brazilian game developer ARVORE is back with Pixel Ripped 1995, and it's shaping up to be a nostalgic hit. The studio, known for their critically praised titles, is delivering a fresh yet familiar experience that pays tribute to the golden era of gaming. Following the success and acclaim of Pixel Ripped 1989, the new game is a “game-within-a-game” that takes players on a trip back to the ‘90s.

Set to launch tomorrow on PlayStation VR in North America, Pixel Ripped 1995 is also scheduled for a European release on May 19th. The game has already been out since April on Steam, Oculus Rift, and Quest stores, garnering a very healthy average score of 82% on Metacritic and a user rating of 96%. Reviewers and players alike have noted noticeable improvements over its predecessor across all aspects.

In Pixel Ripped 1995, players step into the shoes of a 9-year-old gaming fanatic named David. The story kicks off as David is recruited by a character named Dot—an animated avatar representing gaming passion—to become the best gamer of the year. The game cleverly blends reality and virtual worlds as players navigate challenges across various genres reminiscent of classic ‘90s gaming, including beat ‘em ups, RPGs, platformers, and more. Along the way, players will face everyday childhood hurdles like dodging bedtime, arcade bullies, and the infamous console wars at the video rental store.

ARVORE continues to stand out as a notable force from Brazil’s growing game development scene. Their previous title, Pixel Ripped 1989, has won multiple awards such as Most Innovative Game at Brazil’s BIG Festival in 2019, and recognition in Japan’s Media Arts Festival. The game’s nostalgic premise and inventive gameplay have resonated strongly with both critics and players globally.

With Pixel Ripped 1995, ARVORE aims to deepen that success by delivering a more polished and engaging experience, inviting players to relive the magic and challenges of gaming childhoods through a vibrant, immersive VR journey.
